Academic Expectations for Next Week

Feb. 20, 2021

Dear Longhorns,

Our thoughts are with you and your families as you weather the effects of this historic winter storm. This last week has also been a roller coaster of rapid change for you, our students, and our campus with the cancellation of classes and other disruptions.

As you know, the university has made the decision to reopen campus next Wednesday at 8 a.m. I wanted to make sure you are aware of academic expectations, including course instruction and missed class time guidance. Please read this message from Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Dan Jaffe, which was sent to faculty last night, with direction on how to proceed. This message will give you a better idea of what to anticipate next week and beyond. Here are a few highlights:

  • On Monday and Tuesday, faculty are asked not to make assignments due or offer new and/or required material.
  • Students and faculty are also not obligated to participate in activities those days.
  • If they can, faculty are asked to record any optional lectures or materials so students can access them when possible.

If you have further questions, please contact your instructor directly.

Please remember that we are all in this together, and by working as a community, we will make it through these challenging times.

Take good care,

Soncia Reagins-Lilly

Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
