Operational Updates

Team members in the Vice President for Student Affairs’ office are primarily working remotely with some working limited on-campus hours for scheduled appointments. Staff are available via email and phone during business hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Division of Student Affairs Department Updates

Center for Students in Recovery

  • Staff are primarily working remotely Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., but they are seeing students by-appointment-only Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Group meetings, check-ins and activities will be held via Zoom.

Counseling and Mental Health Center

  • All services will be offered via telehealth. Staff will be working remotely Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with some extended hours available for appointments.
  • A small number of staff members will be onsite to assist students who to use a private office in the center for their telehealth appointment. These offices do need to be reserved ahead of time, so students should inquire about this when they call to speak with a counselor about services. Students should plan to bring their own laptop or other device. If a student does not have access to a device, one will be provided. Students will be instructed how to clean the office before and after the appointment.
  • Students seeking mental health services should call the center at 512-471-3515.
  • For crises after hours or on weekends, CMHC Crisis Line at (512) 471-2255 is available 24/7.

New Student Services

Office of the Dean of Students

  • The office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. All visitors to the Student Services Building will be directed to enter through the first floor for a temperature check and health screening by University Health Services before progressing into the building.
  • In-person meetings will be limited. The staff member with whom the student is meeting will be asked to come to the front to escort their appointment to their office. The front desk staff members will escort students to the courtesy offices for Student Conduct and Academic Integrity appointments. Student Emergency Services walk-ins will be asked to fill out an intake form via an office iPad or a printed QR code that they can scan to open and fill out the form on their phone.
  • The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is now the Behavior Concerns and COVID-19 Advice Line (BCCAL) to answer your COVID-19 questions.

Recreational Sports

  • Facilities are open with modifications. View this page for reopening information.
  • The office remains closed to the public and most staff are working remotely during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be a Guest Services Desk in the Gregory Gym Concourse, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Currently enrolled UT Austin students, RecSports members and community members can purchase a variety of TeXercise Pass options to enjoy unlimited access to group exercise classes each week.

Texas Parents

  • One staff member will be working in the office during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Office is located within Gregory Gymnasium, so students and parents must follow Recreational Sports procedures for entry to the building. Visitors must ring the bell of the Texas Parents office to gain entry. Staff will follow social distancing for meetings.

University Health Services

  • The department is open during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to provide care for most health concerns through telemedicine, including evaluation of COVID-19. UHS will schedule in-person appointments for acute illness or injury only after an initial telemedicine consultation in which the provider determines an in-person visit is necessary in order to provide treatment or care. The UHS lab remains open but may be accessed by appointment only. UHS will continue to monitor all secure messages, phone calls and refill requests.
  • Please call 512-471-4955 to schedule a telemedicine appointment or the UHS Nurse Advice Line, 512-475-6877, for guidance about when to come to UHS, especially if you have a fever and respiratory symptoms. If you seek care from another provider while you are away from campus and need your medical records released, please click here for instructions.
  • Proactive Community Testing on campus is available for students, faculty and staff.
  • The annual Flu Shot Campaign takes place in the Texas Union Shirley Bird Perry Ballroom until Oct. 23.

University Housing and Dining

University Unions

  • The Texas Union, William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center, and the Student Services Building are open during these hours. Some staff are working remotely during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Hand sanitizer is available throughout common areas. Furniture has been rearranged for social distancing.
  • View dining hours and locations. Restaurants are following social distancing and health guidance. Use Grubhub’s mobile food pickup for easier access to our food options.
