Team members in the Vice President for Student Affairs’ office are primarily working remotely with some working limited on-campus hours for scheduled appointments. Staff are available via email and phone during business hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Division of Student Affairs Department Updates

Center for Students in Recovery

  • Staff are primarily working remotely Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., but they are available for in-person student appointments by request. Group meetings, check-ins and activities will be held via Zoom.

Counseling and Mental Health Center

  • All services will be offered via telehealth. Staff will be working remotely Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with some extended hours available for appointments.
  • A small number of staff members will be onsite to assist students who to use a private office in the center for their telehealth appointment. These offices do need to be reserved ahead of time, so students should inquire about this when they call to speak with a counselor about services. Students should plan to bring their own laptop or other device. If a student does not have access to a device, one will be provided. Students will be instructed how to clean the office before and after the appointment.
  • Students seeking mental health services should call the center at 512-471-3515.
  • For crises after hours or on weekends, CMHC Crisis Line at (512) 471-2255 is available 24/7.

New Student Services

Office of the Dean of Students

  • The office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. 
  • In-person meetings are discouraged. Sanitized courtesy offices with computers and phones are available for student privacy during virtual meetings. Walk-ins for Student Emergency Services walk-ins are asked to complete an online intake form before meeting with staff.
  • The Behavior Concerns and COVID-19 Advice Line (BCCAL) continues to support behavior concerns about members of the UT community (512-232-5050, option 1) and address COVID-19 questions and concerns for our community (512-232-5050, option 2).

Recreational Sports

Texas Parents

  • The Texas Parents staff are working remotely responding to phone and email inquiries during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. CST.
  • A staff member is in the office Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The office is located within Gregory Gymnasium, so students and parents must follow Recreational Sports procedures for entry to the building. Visitors must ring the bell of the Texas Parents office to gain entry. Staff will follow social distancing for meetings.

University Health Services

  • The department is open during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to provide care for most health concerns through telemedicine, including evaluation for COVID-19 symptoms. UHS will schedule in-person appointments for acute illness or injury only after an initial telemedicine consultation in which the provider determines an in-person visit is necessary to provide treatment or care.
  • The UHS lab remains open but may be accessed by appointment only. UHS continues to monitor secure messages, phone calls and refill requests.
  • Students can schedule many telehealth appointments via their MyUHS Patient Portal. They can also call 512-471-4955 to schedule. Students can call the UHS Nurse Advice Line (512-475-6877) for guidance about when to come to UHS, especially if you have a fever and respiratory symptoms. University Housing and Dining

  • Please take a look at the FAQ’s for students living in undergraduate on-campus housing.
  • The main administrative office is closed to walk-in traffic and in-person visits until further notice. For housing related questions we are asking people to either email us at housing@austin.utexas.edu or call the office at 512-471-3136.

University Unions

  • The Texas Union, William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center and the Student Services Building are open during these hours. Some staff are working remotely during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Hand sanitizer is available throughout common areas. Furniture has been rearranged for social distancing.
