The Vice President for Student Affairs office creates intentionally-designed opportunities, communities and events for students, faculty, families, staff, alumni and supporters. Under the leadership of Vice President Lilly, these initiatives underscore the Division’s core functions as the hub of student life and well-being: partnerships, student support and well-being. The office team helps maximize the Longhorn experience by providing enriched, rewarding and fun possibilities. These initiatives support a shared University-wide goal: to help ensure that student are healthy, engaged and successful — and ready to change the world.
Constitution Day
Our office commemorates the historic signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17 by working with campus partners to educate students on the rights of citizenship and civic engagement.
Dinner with 16 Longhorns
This community-building student event brings 16 students from across campus together. The intimate dinner creates a space for genuine dialogue and conversation.
Division of Student Affairs Programming Council
Council members from the Division’s departments provide high-quality student events and activities to foster a sense of community and belonging.
First-Generation Commitment Working Group
The working group consists of faculty, staff and students across campus who identify and create solutions to increase campus-wide support for first-generation Longhorns.
Longhorn Family Leadership Council
This council is a dynamic team of parents and alumni who lend their philanthropic and professional expertise to support students in living the Longhorn life. Appointed by VP Lilly, council members assist in fundraising efforts and provide vital feedback.
New Staff Welcome
This program welcomes new Division staff members to the team with information about our intentionally-created, student-focused programs, spaces and resources.
Reunion Tailgate
Division alumni, friends and supporters gather annually on the Forty Acres ahead of a fall football game. The 2023 tailgate took place on Nov. 4 before the football game against Kansas State University.
Student Employee of the Year Award
This annual award is given to an outstanding student employee who has made a positive impact at the University. The Office of the President, Human Resources, Texas Career Engagement and Vice President for Student Affairs sponsor this recognition.
Texas Digital 360
This program gives students access to a website-building platform for resumes, portfolios, student organizations and professional skill development. These tools help students showcase their accomplishments and stand out in the ever-expanding digital landscape.
UT Night at the Austin Trail of Lights
The Vice President for Student Affairs is the key sponsor of UT Night at the Trail of Lights. This special evening gives students, faculty, alumni, family and friends an opportunity to enjoy the festivities while showcasing Longhorn pride.
