Wise Words from the VP, May 2019

May 1, 2019

As we gear up for finals and commencement, I know how exhausting it can be to complete the last rush before the semester ends. While it’s true that work in the Division of Student Affairs doesn’t end when the semester wraps up, I want to encourage you to take a breather and refresh. I also want to thank you for an excellent semester of dedication and service to our students. I’m so glad you are on the team.

Reflecting back on this semester, I am amazed by our accomplishments: launching our Division-wide internship program in conjunction with the College to Career program, purchasing 2400 Nueces, introducing our off-campus resources initiative, creating the Longhorn Wellness Center, expanding UT Outpost, hosting RecSports Recess events and offering a zero waste catering option at the Unions.

We also celebrated the 15th anniversary of The Center for Students in Recovery, and enhanced and expanded the Evening of the Stars program to include the Vice President for Student Affairs Reunion, bringing our Family Leadership Council, alumni and friends together.

I’m sharing just some of the bigger achievements since I can’t list all of them in just a few words. If you don’t see yours here, know that I am thinking about you, too!

I look forward to a great summer orientation season, and all of the exciting events and programs it brings to our campus.

Take good care,

Soncia Reagins-Lilly

Your Vice President for Student Affairs
