Get Involved on Campus

Aug. 20, 2018

Dear New Longhorns,

It’s time! Time to dive into your new campus also well known as the Forty Acres. You are joining a dynamic campus community that has opportunities for everyone. Get involved and get to know our university, build a professional network and have fun. Take advantage of all your campus has to offer!

Longhorn Welcome is a great place to start. This series of free events from Aug. 24-Sept. 8 will help you meet new people and learn our core values. You can also complete your HornsLink profile to learn about campus events and join one of our 1,100 student organizations. HornsLink can help you find clubs, teams and groups based on your areas of interest, and find academic organizations in our colleges and schools. Another great way to get connected is by joining one of our many Intramural Sports teams or Sport Clubs.

When looking for groups to join, keep an open mind and get out of your comfort zone. One of the best things about college is having the opportunity to try new things, and these can often be the most rewarding experiences.

Being in a student organization at the university is a privilege that comes with responsibilities. Before you join any student organization, please make sure to check that they are registered on HornsLink and in good standing with the university.

We are so excited to welcome you to campus in the coming weeks! If you ever have questions or just want to talk, please reach out to me. Drop me an email or visit during my office hours.

Hook ‘em,

Dr. Soncia Reagins-Lilly

Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
