Hello Student Affairs Team,

Congrats on your great work supporting our students’ success by providing engaging opportunities and possibilities this spring term. While it marks the end of college for our graduating students, it is a new beginning for our incoming Longhorns attending orientation. The Division of Student Affairs and each department is involved in each student’s academic journey from orientation to graduation ¾ our commitment to students and their families takes no breaks!

We strive to challenge and provide the environments for ALL students to reach their full potential, cultivate a sense of belonging, improve access to UT resources and help clear the path to graduation. We do. We want our students to thrive inside and outside the classroom. And through our innovative student-centered programs, spaces and resources, you all maximize the Longhorn experience in so many ways. I know that you will continue those efforts this summer during orientation and as you plan for the fall term.

Always remember that your collaborative spirit influences the Longhorn life every day! I hope it will be evident when you see the smiles on our graduating students’ faces. You made a difference in helping prepare them to go out and change the world. It’s why we show up and work every day!

Rest is also an important part of being able to do our work, so I want you to find time for yourself this summer. Take a walk. Do something you love. Recharge your batteries where you can. Give yourself a bit of the same grace and care you give our students. I, for one, will embrace the coming summer and carve out some time to rest too. I hope you do, too.

For Students, We Will!
