Our Experts Leading the Way
Our thought leaders and innovators are being recognized as experts on the full student experience through awards and presentations. They recently shared information about our intentionally-designed student support, health and well-being programs and resources to a wide range of audiences.
Grace Bova (Office of the Dean of Students) received the Outstanding Interfraternity Council Advisor award from the North American Interfraternity Conference. UT Austin’s Interfraternity Council also received awards for Outstanding IFC, Outstanding Peer Governance and Outstanding IFC President.
Marla Craig and Melissa Eshelman (Counseling and Mental Health Center) presented about the TimelyCare program during the McCombs Undergraduate Advisor Meeting on Feb. 14. They shared information about this service to 100+ McCombs undergraduate academic advisors.
Marla Craig (Counseling and Mental Health Center) and Katy Redd (Counseling and Mental Health Center and University Health Services) presented on student health and well-being services at the Texas Development “Brain Bites” meeting on Feb. 9.
Kayleigh Damphousse and Cameron Landry (New Student Services) presented “Texting, Gen Z! Peer Leadership through Informal Communication” at the 43rd Annual Conference on the First Year Experience on Feb. 20.
Terrance Hines (University Health Services) presented at the virtual Staff Council meeting on Feb. 15 about services available to UT Austin faculty and staff.
CieCie Leonard and Adrienne Mackenzie (RecSports) led the efforts to host the annual TexFit Conference. The conference started 28 years ago as a way for RecSports fitness professionals to share group fitness class choreographing. This year, 16 RecSports fitness staff members presented to nearly 320 collegiate fitness professionals from across Texas. Check out the photos.
Katy Redd (Counseling and Mental Health Center and University Health Services) and Margaret Luévano (Texas Global) partnered to share information with two Korean students about Texas Global services and BeVocal. The two student journalists from Ewha Womans University visited our campus to learn more about our prevention and outreach programs for a story in their campus newspaper.
Ashley Richardson-Minnitt and Katharine Sucher (New Student Services) hosted a three-hour seminar at the Texas School Social Workers Conference about Supporting Neurodiversity in Schools through an Ethical Lens on Feb. 21.
